Dramatic Effect
Some dramatic effect was called for with this one. The client asked for different, the house was a triumph and needed a garden that married with the inside.
So dark fencing, bold shapes, a mix of materials and some statement planting gave them a flexible space that could be an absolute haven to hide away in or opened up to welcome guests. A small produce garden in a raised L-shaped bed was installed behind a boldy painted dividing wall (that later had a floating bench attached).
A large sweeping Millboard deck zoned the garden and created a divide from the circular seating area (which is now perfectly screened). Pleached trees along the rear fence (now) screen the property behind and bold textural planting adds plenty of interest.
